We've put together a handy guide explaining the Welsh Government's Future Proofing Fund and how you can apply.

Looking for ways to make your Welsh business more sustainable and attract eco-conscious customers? The Welsh Government's £20 million Future Proofing Fund is offering grants of between £5,000 and £10,000 to eligible micro, small, and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in the retail, hospitality, and leisure sectors.

What can you use the grant for?

One of the exciting ways you can use this grant is to install electric vehicle (EV) charging points at your business. This is a brilliant opportunity to cater to the growing number of EV drivers and give your customers a convenient way to recharge while they visit.

The Cabinet Secretary for the Economy, Energy and Welsh Language, Jeremy Miles, said:

"Micro, small and medium sized businesses are what makes our economy tick, and as a Government we’re committed to helping them succeed.
My message to businesses today is simple, if you’re eligible – go ahead and apply now for this help."

Why offer EV charging?

There are many benefits to offering EV charging at your business:

  • Attract new customers: EV drivers are actively seeking businesses with charging facilities. By offering this service, you'll attract a whole new customer base who might not have considered visiting you before.
  • Improve customer experience: Make your business more convenient for existing customers who drive EVs. They'll appreciate the ability to top up their charge while they enjoy your services.
  • Future-proof your business: The popularity of EVs is only going to increase. By investing in charging points now, you're ensuring your business stays ahead of the curve and remains relevant to future customers.
  • Promote sustainability: Showcasing your commitment to sustainability can give your business a positive image and attract customers who value eco-friendly practices.
