Tralee Bay Coastal Parks has been named voltshare’s Venue of the Month for April, receiving our Best New Charger award after an impressive first few weeks of going live.

From the outset, the site has seen strong early usage, showing clear demand and a fast return on installation. It’s a great example of how quickly EV charging can start delivering value when everything is set up properly from day one.

A strong start from day one

From the beginning, the team at Tralee Bay found the process smooth and easy to manage.

As the owner put it, “The experience with voltshare has been absolutely fantastic. From the very beginning, the process was seamless and professional.”

From navigating the initial grant through to getting the charger installed and live, everything ran as it should. The platform has also made day-to-day management simple, giving them full visibility without adding extra work.

They also highlighted how easy it’s been to manage ongoing, saying the “user-friendly app has made managing the chargers a joy.”

Since installing the charger, Tralee Bay has already seen a noticeable increase in EV drivers visiting the site.

In their words, “There has been a noticeable and heartening increase in EV drivers visiting Tralee Bay since the installation.”

They also noted that “having reliable charging points has turned the park into a key destination for EV drivers.”

Guest demand is already growing. As they explained, “more and more [guests] are arriving in their electric cars… having the convenience of just plugging in at the end of their day travelling has been bliss.”

Location also plays a big role. Being set in a popular and scenic area makes it a natural stop for drivers passing through or staying nearby.

There’s also the reassurance factor. The team pointed out that “EV owners often experience range anxiety, so providing a reliable, visible charging solution… gives them the confidence to visit.”

On top of that, word of mouth is already building. With more guests having what they described as “hiccup-free charging experiences,” Tralee Bay is quickly establishing itself as an EV friendly destination.

A future focused decision

The decision to install EV charging was driven by a clear goal. Future proof the site while improving the guest experience.

As the owner explained, it was about “supporting the environment, enhancing the guest experience and staying ahead of the curve.”

Like many hospitality businesses, Tralee Bay recognises that EVs are becoming a bigger part of travel. Installing chargers now puts them ahead of that curve rather than reacting later.

It also supports a broader move towards sustainability, helping reduce environmental impact while offering a practical benefit to visitors.
