It’s been a busy few months for the voltshare team, with our Head of Business Development, Ste, travelling across the UK to meet businesses, industry partners and tourism professionals.

From Herefordshire to Aberdeen and Mid Wales, we’ve been getting out and about to talk about EV charging, hear directly from the hospitality and tourism sectors and share the funding opportunities available to businesses looking to install chargers.

Here’s a look at where we’ve been.

Visit Herefordshire Tourism Conference – 23 April

We kicked things off in April at the Visit Herefordshire Tourism Conference.

It was a great opportunity to catch up with some of our existing voltshare site owners as well as meet other businesses from across the region.

The conference brought together organisations from across Herefordshire’s visitor economy, with speakers sharing insights into the opportunities available to tourism and hospitality businesses in the area.

For us, events like this are particularly valuable because we get to hear directly from venue owners about what they’re seeing on the ground, while helping businesses understand how EV charging can become part of their wider visitor offering.

ASSC Regional Gathering, Aberdeen – 6 May

Next up was a trip north to Aberdeen for the Association of Scotland’s Self-Caterers (ASSC) Regional Gathering.

We’ve worked closely with ASSC for some time, so it’s always a pleasure to attend their events and meet self-catering operators from across Scotland.

This year’s gathering focused on “The Future of Self Catering”, providing plenty of discussion around the opportunities and challenges facing the sector.

With more guests travelling by electric vehicle, charging is becoming another consideration for self-catering properties looking at how they can improve the experience they offer visitors.

A big thank you to the ASSC team for another brilliant event and for their continued support.

Mid Wales Tourism Conference – 18 June

In June, Ste headed to the Mid Wales Tourism Conference for another day of conversations with businesses from across the hospitality and tourism sector.

The event featured a range of speakers discussing some of the key issues currently facing hospitality businesses, alongside the opportunities available to the sector.

We were there to talk about EV charging and, in particular, the OZEV grant funding available to eligible small accommodation businesses, charities and fleets.

There was even time for Ste to meet Martin Roberts from Homes Under the Hammer while he was there!

It was a really well-run event and a great opportunity to meet more businesses from across Mid Wales. We’re already looking forward to heading back next year.

Why we get out to industry events

While we spend plenty of time talking about EV charging, these events are just as important for us to listen.

They give us the chance to speak directly with the people running hotels, holiday lets, self-catering accommodation and other visitor destinations. We can better understand the challenges they’re facing, the questions they have about EV charging and what they need from providers like voltshare.

They’re also a chance to reconnect with existing customers and partners and build new relationships across the tourism and hospitality industries.

And we’re not finished yet.

We’ll be continuing to travel across the UK over the coming months, meeting businesses and helping more venues understand whether EV charging is right for them.
