Next up in our meet the team series is Julian, one of our Business Development Managers, who tells us how he got into the industry and what he loves most about his work.
My background is in the energy industry, and as a Business Development Manager. I'm focused on generating new opportunities and helping the company grow, particularly with the great people and beautiful properties in my home region of the South-West.
My background in energy sales naturally led me to the EV charging industry, which I see as a new and exciting sector with significant growth potential. What encouraged me is the opportunity to combine my professional experience with my interest in improving we way we treat the planet. I take pride in helping businesses reduce their environmental footprint, and it's a pleasure to work with clients in the hospitality industry and see our solutions enhance their beautiful venues.
A typical day for me as a BDM at voltshare starts with a coffee and a review of the pipeline. I'll check for any new inbound leads from our website or recent marketing campaigns and follow up on quotes that have gone out.
The main part of the day is all about proliferating the voltshare message and generating new business. This involves everything from researching new prospects in the hospitality industry to making targeted calls and sending out personalised emails. I spend a lot of time on the phone, speaking with potential clients and explaining how our service and superior customer support are what truly set us apart. It's rewarding to see them realise the value of a solution that handles all the day-to-day operations for them, allowing them to focus on their business.
The most rewarding part of helping clients is when they realise that voltshare offers more than just a charger. They come to us focused on hardware and price, but they quickly discover that our true value lies in our hands-off service. We handle everything from payments to 24/7 guest support, allowing them to focus on their business. This shift from thinking about a product to investing in a complete, reliable service is incredibly rewarding, as it’s when they understand that our support is what makes us the premier EV charging provider in the hospitality industry.
One of my most memorable success stories involves a prestigious hotel on an island in Cornwall. They had installed non-smart chargers that were rarely used, and the hotel was concerned their initial investment hadn't paid off. We replaced their old units with voltshare's smart chargers and our hands-off service. Because our back-office management was a huge relief for the non-tech-savvy managers, the chargers quickly became a hit. They began attracting new EV-driving guests and now generate a healthy second income for the hotel, all without any extra work for the staff.
The key difference is our level of service. As our chargers are designed for the hospitality industry, we provide round-the-clock support for both you and your guests. Our system also offers the flexibility and functionality to operate the charger exactly how you want
If you're still on the fence, I would strongly encourage installing a charger. For EV drivers, 'range anxiety' is a major concern, and providing them with a reliable charging option at your business can make all the difference. With voltshare, you get a completely hands-off service where we manage all the daily operations, and you earn income every time a guest charges their car.
I really enjoy DJing, having been into electronic music all my life it’s something I really enjoy.
